![]() ![]() ![]() I have shot more value in ammo through every gun I own within a year of buying it than I paid for it new, so.not the biggest concern for me. ![]() Regarding purchase price of a gun.if you are talking even three hundred dollars, that's still only, what - 1500 rounds of WWB? I don't mind paying for the gun I think is best for me.the intial investment is small compared to the ammo cost. It's comforting to be able to modify and work on my own gun, and the support network is enormous. 40 - it seemed alright, but for all the reasons the others have posted, I would pick Glock. I look at them as johnny-come-lately's trying to captilalize on Glock's success, they're actually foreign-made US branded, I find that a little suspicious no matter who does it.and the tight tolerances run counter to the Glock platform which is (in part) opening up tolerances so you have a much better success rate firing it reliably, with ice/snow/mud whatever torture test you like best in it. Guns & Ammo did a review on the XDm a couple months ago (not that it means a whole lot). If other makers are better guns than Glock, why is Glock selling so many guns even today? There is a reason Glock has been around for so long and still going strong. I have owned both and I say, don't mess around with the Glock wanna-bees. You will end up with a better gun in the long run. My point is, get a Glock and add whatever parts you think you need to get it more accurate or easier to shoot. I maybe added $100 worth of parts (got them used as well) and now I have a sweet shooting well decked out G17 that is the equal or better than any XD in everyway. My G17 was about $375 from Gander Mountain very slighty used. Everything was easy to do and can be done by people who are not gunsmiths. I also installed an extended slide stop and mag catch as well +2 mag floor plates on a few mags and night sights. I installed them based on YouTube videos and it worked fine. I got the parts for $20 or so (don't remember). I have a G17 that I did a few drop in trigger improvements, now it has a nice trigger that I am sure is as good as any XD. If you think about it, a G17 can be improved very easy and without much expense. Think about it this way, what can the XDM do better than the G17? ![]()
